Close Encounters of the Reef Kind

Posted on by Lucy Kehoe filed under World Tour 2002/03, Australia, Queensland.

We had a fantastic time out on the Great Barrier Reef, although we found it to be very hectic. We did six dives in 24 hours!!!

We were on and off the boat every two hours, apart from when we were sleeping... even then they woke us at 6am for our first dive!

We don't want to make it sound like we were having a hard time, because it was really amazing out on the reef. We've seen loads of tropical fish, turtles and a shark (well Lucy saw the shark, I missed it - Lee). We've now completed our SSI Advance Speciality course, doing some good dives including: a night dive, a deep dive (only 25metres), a navigational dives and a naturalist dive (calm down Winter we had our wetsuits on - Lee).

The boat and crew were great, we felt at home... highly recommended!

We're now in New Zealand, hired a campervan, touring around all the Lord of the Rings filming locations. We'll tell you all about it in our next posting, probably when we get to Fiji!!!

New Zealand scenery is absolutely breath-taking-ly amazing!
